Its only 13 year old girls that keep diaries, right? Well for anyone that's interested I thought I'd try my hand at documenting my internal ramblings on this very here blog. Might even put some photos up.
The plan...Monday 14th June (2010)....Go to Latin America "for a bit" - come back a bit more hairier/smellier (probably) and hopefully a bit more Zen.
As of today I no longer work for "the man" (I do however currently live with my parents). Weird feeling it is... (not working for the man is)....(and "my man" happens to be a very lovely woman)...Anyway... I've decided to mark my temporary absence from the clutches of the (wo)man by staying up late/writing this blog/playing Balearic mixes and drinking rum.
(* refill *).
So a year ago I read one of those self help books and it said that I should have a goal...well it had always been a goal of mine to travel. Apparently it was as easy as breaking your large goal into a series of smaller goals...piece of cake, no?
What this actually meant was I made a long list of sacrifices over the course of the year, like, eating food with very little nutritious value / missing rounds at the pub (heck their was a couple of occasions where I remember pouring canned beverages into a glass.... Ala bog).... and eventually moving in back in with the folks.
Following the decision to live as frugally as possible I decided to address work lunches as an area to save valuable spending money. Due to sheer uninspired laziness I spent the next 8 & half months eating the same 5 soups, mainly because Mr J Sainsbury's claim that.... I was "being good to myself"...and more importantly.... they cost 52p a pop. This resulted in my being.. er being.... a bit windy for the next 8 & half months (all the soups incorporated the "super food"....the pulse....chick peas, kidney beans etc).
This obviously involved a lot a canned goods unleashing their long life'd contents...
I salute you....
