Kolkata didn't get an after thought when booking the Andamans (besides it cheapest from here), but after a (surprisingly) pleasant 24 hours I had a new vigor about returning and giving it some more time.

Although there is some truth in the stereotype I was surprised to find a mostly cosmopolitan city which oozes character, history and culture (all cemented by its warm Bengali folk).
